Welcome to Night of Knights's Official Webpage!

He that plays the king shall be welcome—his
Majesty shall have tribute on me. The adventurous
knight shall use his foil and target, the lover shall
not sigh gratis, the humorous man shall end his
part in peace, the clown shall make those laugh
whose lungs are tickle o' th' sear, and the lady
shall say her mind freely, or the blank verse shall
                halt for 't.

- Hamlet, Act 2 Scene 2

What is a Knight?

It is night with a K.

Knight
Comes from Germanic "Knecht", meaning boy, youth, servant, or attendant.
A knight is a man who served a lord as a mounted soldier in armor.

What is Night of Knights?

NoK is an Otterbein organization that combines historical discussion with hands-on sword fighting practice. Our mission is to cultivate a love for and permit learning about the history of warfare and knights across various cultures! Or according to Nicholas Udics: To put it more simply, we're a bunch of nerds that like medieval stuff and wanna talk about it!

The Story of its Founding:

It started with Liticia Makhloufi, who woke up one day and decided to start a sword-fighting organization. She asked one of her friends, Nicholas Udics, if he wants to join her organization. Funny enough, it happened that Nicholas was a part of a sword-fighting organization called Grim's Keep and he was knowledgeable about this field, making him the perfect candidate for the role of vice president.

Types of Meetings:

Lecture Meetings:

In our lecture-based meetings, we explore knights and warriors from various cultures, including European Knights, Samurai, Vikings, and more. We dive into their history, tactics, armor, and impact on warfare and society.

Battle Meetings:

We will engage in foam sword combat using the rules of the game Belegarth to make fighting safe and accessible. We currently own several foam boffer swords and plan to acquire a full arsenal for the use of our members.
